Penthouse Living

A Contemporary Design in the Heart of Manhattan

Inspired by the modern design of hotel lobbies, Mohamad Ibrahim Husin created a luxurious penthouse living space that combines open and connected areas with designated seating. With a focus on bespoke artisan pieces and a cozy ambiance, this design brings a unique and sophisticated atmosphere to the heart of Manhattan.

The project involved furnishing a high-end penthouse apartment in the middle of Manhattan. The designer opted for modern and contemporary pieces throughout the space, complementing the developer's specified kitchen. The use of natural materials such as wood, leather, wool, and silk adds a touch of elegance and warmth to the design.

One of the unique aspects of this project is the utilization of virtual reality (VR) technology. Through VR, clients can visualize the space and experience it before making any purchases. This technology helps them understand and appreciate the design in a more immersive way.

The design specifications include a total area of 117.4 square meters, with varying heights ranging from 13m to 30m. The design team, consisting of Mohamad Ibrahim Husin, Christine Martin, and Joyce Elizabeth Tracinda, worked together to bring this vision to life.

To create a sense of calmness, the designers applied a two-tone color scheme of light grey and blue to the walls. Walnut-colored furniture in the dining area ties back to the existing kitchenette, while leather materials were used for the living area sofa and kitchen bar stools. Black accents, including wall sculptures, mirror frames, furniture tops, and lamp shades, add a contemporary touch. A dash of yellow accentuates the armchairs and artwork in the master bedroom suite.

The project, which started in September 2014, was completed in November of the same year. The color palette of the design was inspired by the surrounding elements, with blue and grey reflecting the skyline view outside the penthouse. Brown tones were chosen to match the flooring and building materials visible from the unit. Textured rugs were strategically placed to add depth, reminiscent of the layers of skyline buildings.

Despite challenges such as limited space in the building's service elevator, the design team successfully overcame obstacles to create a stunning penthouse living experience. By prioritizing local sourcing, energy and water efficiency, and durability, they achieved a design that softens the harshness of the concrete jungle outside.

This exceptional design was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2019. This prestigious accolade recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The design's integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics contributes to a better world.
